Oradell, November 2004. The Bergen County Players, one of America’s foremost little theater groups continues its 72nd season with the entertaining and outrageous musical comedy “Jack and the Beanstalk”. The Bergen County Players invites the whole family to its traditional children’s holiday show. Get ready to join Jack Sprague in a wacky and hilarious musical journey up the beanstalk! Over the years, many different versions of Jack and the Beanstalk have sprouted up in the movies, on television, and at theaters. The beanstalk seeds of entertainment were sown with Walt Disney’s 1933 production of the animated movie classic “Giantland”, the 1952 Abbot and Costello movie “Jack and the Beanstalk”, the 1966 Emmy Award winning Prince Street Players television production of “Jack and the Beanstalk”, that was adapted for the stage by Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy, and so much more! “Jack and the Beanstalk” is set in medieval England. Eiler and Bargey use their outstanding comedy writing skills and turn this childhood classic upside down! When Jack climbs the beanstalk he encounters some unexpected twists and turns along the way. For one thing, he finds a comedic Giant and a tap-dancing golden goose. To top things off, he also runs into the villainous Baron and his long lost father.
