The
team behind The Mystery of Irma Vep is excited to announce our
Midnight Show's Costume Contest Winner!
Elaine Lederman (pictured left), of
Maywood, was declared the winning contestant in our ghoulish
pageant. Dressed as The Vampire Lady, she was granted best costume
based on originality, design and workmanship, among other gory
categories.
Elaine first learned of our contest through
member Joyce Ghia, who is one of our six dressers backstage. Elaine
also was enticed to attend after receiving our "Irma" postcard
highlighting the midnight show and contest. Pulling from
various 'familial' resources, Elaine borrowed her husband's Vampire
Prince gown, her daughter's long black wig, and some make-up from
her son's Halloween get-up supplies. She obtained a black rose for
the final morbid touch.
Elaine not only loves to dress up, or in this case, "dress to
kill," but also loves taking tap and jazz classes. Some on-stage
experience has been performing in FLOW Follies, where her dance
talents and a little drama have been employed. Elaine can relate to
Joyce's and the other dressers' backstage frenzy - she herself
required assistance doing quick changes in the Follies.
You can see Elaine in costume during her walk-on segments Saturday,
March 3. When not onstage, she'll be seated backstage to witness the
mayhem of our two actors' quick-change miracles first-hand.
Oh, Elaine informs us that Saturday's performance
will be held beneath a full moon!
