Public Relations A SHOW WORTH WAITING IN “LINE” FOR BERGEN COUNTY PLAYERS CONTINUES ITS 75th SEASON WITH ISRAEL HOROWITZ’S LONG-RUNNING COMEDY, “LINE” “A play on human nature and our need to be first..” Oradell, NJ, [1/14/08] -- The Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America’s foremost community theaters, continues its 75th consecutive season with the long-running comedy by Israel Horowitz, “LINE”, which will play at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell on January 26th and 27th, 2008. Tickets can be purchased online at www.bcplayers.org, or by calling 201-261-4200, or by visiting the box office at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell during regular box office hours. To commemorate its Diamond Jubilee season, BCP is presenting a “Season for the Decades” in which each show represents one of its seven-plus decades of existence. Now in its 32nd year, LINE is currently the longest-running Off-Off Broadway production. This simple yet thoughtful play features five characters that fight each other as they compete for the coveted place of "front of the line." What are these people waiting for? This question does not seem as important as what they will do to get to the front. Lying, scheming, cheating and wrestling ensue as Horowitz examines the now timeless theme of America's constant desire (and struggle) to be in first place. Director, Frank Osmers of South Hackensack, has been a BCP member since 1974. He has worked both on and off stage in such capacities as vice president, director and actor. Frank’s directorial skills can be seen by his work on the comedy Run For Your Wife and Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive. As an actor, various roles include Teddy in When You Comin’ Back Red Ryder?, Lee in Sam Shepard’s True West and Robert in Proof. He was also heard as the voice of Lamont Cranston in BCP's 2004 radio production of The Shadow. The intimate cast of characters are portrayed by Ken Douglass of Garfield as Dolan; John Kiely of Allendale as Fleming; Chase Levy of Leonia as Stephen; Danielle Rosato of Waldwick as Molly and Earle Ziff of Leonia as Arnall. Each character brings a unique characteristic to the performance, which in the end will be their means to getting to the front of the line. TICKET AND SCHEDULE INFORMATION All performances take place at The Little Firehouse Theatre at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell, home to the Bergen County Players for 58 years. Tickets are $10.00 for the Saturday and Sunday performances. Performance times are Saturday at 2 pm and Sunday at 7 pm. Those interested in schedules, discount offers and purchasing tickets for the 75th anniversary Diamond Jubilee season can log onto BCP’s website at: www.bcplayers.org, or visit the box office at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell, or call (201) 261-4200. The Bergen County Players has grown tremendously from its roots as a small community theater when it was founded in 1932 by a small group of actors, including John Travolta’s mother, Helen Burke Travolta. Today, nearly 300 volunteer members, working on and off stage, make possible the seven main stage and two second stage productions presented each season. The company's professional alumni include Tony Award-nominated actress Beth Fowler (The Boy From Oz, Sweeney Todd), Tony Award-winning actor Robert Sean Leonard (FOX’s "House", The Invention of Love), Tony Award-nominated director Robert Jess Roth (Beauty and the Beast, Lestat), and international best-selling suspense author Mary Higgins Clark, just to name a few. In May 2001, Tony Award-winning playwright and composer Rupert Holmes (Curtains, The Mystery of Edwin Drood) collaborated with the Bergen County Players to premier his new play at the Little Firehouse Theatre, a comic mystery called Thumbs!
