Oradell, NJ, January 17, 2011

Bergen County Players (BCP) presents The Little Dog Laughed, a smart sophisticated satire by Douglas Carter Beane.  Under the direction of Steve Bell, The Little Dog Laughed will be performed at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from February 19th through March 12th, 2011 with shows at 8pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm on Sunday.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.bcplayers.org, by calling 201-261-4200 or by visiting the box office at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell during regular box office hours.

The Little Dog Laughed follows the adventures of Mitchell Green, a movie star who could make it big if it weren’t for one teensy-weensy problem— his hard-driving agent, Diane, can’t seem to keep him in the closet. Trying to help him navigate Hollywood’s choppy waters, the devilish Diane is doing all she can to keep Mitchell away from the cute rent boy who’s caught his eye…and the rent boy’s girlfriend! (Wait....the rent boy has a girlfriend???) Will there be a happy ending when the curtain falls?  Nominated for Best Play of 2007, Douglas Carter Beane offers a sharp satire on our celebrity-fixated society.

The Little Dog Laughed is directed by Steve Bell of Teaneck.   A Life Member and Past-President, Steve has been active with the Players for thirty years. He has directed 13 BCP productions, including Gypsy, Epic Proportions, Lucky Stiff, Deathtrap, Urinetown, Curtains and The King & I. Steve served as musical director for seven shows, including Sweeney Todd, Company and Honk. As a performer, he appeared in such shows as Follies (Buddy – Perry Award Winner), Anything Goes (Moonface Martin), City of Angels (Stine), Into the Woods (Baker) and Forum (Pseudolous). Steve teaches vocal music at Teaneck High School, and is the Artistic Director of the Teaneck Community Chorus.

The amazing cast is comprised of Craig T. Tiede of Jersey City playing Mitchell Green, the movie star with a problem staying “out of the spotlight”, Greg Hedler of Clifton playing Alex, the “Rent Boy” with a heart of gold, Elaine Davis of Glen Rock playing Diane, the LA Agent who “solves problems” and Allyson Stevenson of Westwood portraying Ellen, Alex’s Girlfriend, who says “she couldn’t identify one of her emotions in a police lineup”.

The production team includes Joanna Bell and Michelle Roth (Producers), Noel Schoonover (Assistant to the Director); Leslie Cohn (Stage Manager); Rob Bazzanella (Set Design and Construction); Marci K. Weinstein (Décor); Allan Seward (Lighting Design); Rob DeScherer (Sound Design); Ruth Morley (Costumes); Tom Lupfer (Properties); Julie Steckler-Kopil (Prop Runner); Gloria Bumbaco, Rob Kopil, Joanne Misha & Steve Mintz (Crew); Jennifer Cottone (Publicity); Alan Zenrich (Photography); Stephanie Bazzanella & Leigh Adel-Arnold (programs); Will Nolan (Program Notes) and Janica Carpenter (Member-at-Large).
