BEVERLY WESTON - 69, husband of Violet. Patriarch, prize winning poet, melancholy and soulful, a full-time alcoholic
BARBARA FORDHAM - 46, Violet and Beverly's daughter, going through a divorce, trying to hold her life, as well as the family, together.
BILL FORDHAM - 49, Barbara's philandering, estranged husband, college professor.
JEAN FORDHAM - 14, Barbara and Bill's daughter; pot smoker, precocious. Has mature language and actions.
IVY WESTON - 44, Violet and Beverly's daughter, librarian, mousy; stayed at home to attend to parents, having an affair with her cousin.
KAREN WESTON - 40, Violet and Beverly's daughter, claims to always have been unhappy; lives in Florida with new fiancé.
MATTIE FAE AIKEN - 57, Violet's sister, overbearing, loud, funny. Has been concealing a huge family secret.
CHARLIE AIKEN - 60, Mattie Fae's husband, sweet, compassionate, docile.
LITTLE CHARLES AIKEN - 37, Mattie Fae and Charlie's son, couch potato, simple minded. In love with Ivy.
STEVE - 50, Karen's fiancé, can be charming, but preys on the naive. Sociopath, unreliable
JOHNNA - 26, Native American, newly hired housekeeper.
SHERIFF- 47, old flame of Barbara's, stayed in the neighborhood

This is a large scaled, multi-faceted play with many challenges for all characters. They are intelligent, complex studies of unstable relationships. Ages are of the characters, not necessarily the actor.
