Roles

CHARACTERS:

• MARGARET (female) – white, about fifty
• STEVIE – (Male) – white – late 20’s
• DOTTIE - (female) – white, mid-sixties
• JEAN – (female) white, about fifty
• MIKE – (male) white, about fifty
• KATE – (female) African-American, early thirties
• THE PRIEST - voice character who calls the Bingo game.  (If doing voice acting work is something in which you are interested, contact the director)

Performance dates: January 9 – 30, 2016

Auditions will be closed. Actors, in addition to reading from the script, will be asked to perform improvisations (provided by the director).

Actors, except MIKE and KATE, will also need to develop (not necessarily for the audition – but if you have it, give it a try) a “Boston Southie” accent.

Actors should read the play and be familiar with the basics of the story and of the character for which they are auditioning.  Actors should also be prepared to specify the character for which they are auditioning but be open to the director’s request to read for another.  Audition scenes are included below.

MARGARET-STEVIE – Act 1, sc. 1 – pages 5-10
MARGARET – DOTTIE – JEAN – Act 1, sc. 2 - from page 13 at DOTTIE’S line: “And who’s gonna hire her? … “ to the end of the scene.
MARGARET – MIKE – Act 1, sc. 3 – from page 25 at MIKE’S line: “”What do you mean, “lace-curtain?” to the end of the scene.
MARGARET – MIKE – KATE – Act 2, sc. 1 – from page 53 at KATE’S line “So, are you going to tell me all of Michael’s secrets?” to page 58 at KATE’S line “No, I got it.”

Additional scenes will be added for callbacks.
