Roles

MYRTLE MAE SIMMONS:  is a pretty young woman in her 20’s who is fussed over by her mother and emotionally upset by her Uncle Elwood.

VETA SIMMONS:  a 50 year old woman caught between her society friends and her brother Elwood.

MRS. CHAUVENET: a woman in her 60 to 70 age. See the description in the script. She appears only in Act I. Great part for an actress who only wants a small character role and would like to work on the show back stage.

MISS KELLY:  A nurse in the sanatorium in her early 20’s and very attractive

MR. WILSON: An assistant at the sanatorium who takes care of the patients is in his late 20’s and is burly, but not like Arnold   Schwarzenegger.

LYMAN SANDERSON: late 20’s to early 30’s is a doctor who thinks very highly of himself and is good looking

DOCTOR WILLIAM CHUMLY: is in his late 50’s. Confident, lordly and he knows it.

BETTY CHUMLY: doctor’s wife in her late 40 to 50’s is good natured, happy woman

JUDGE GAFFNEY:  is in his early 60’s white hair and very business like

E. J. LOFGRAN: he is in his 30 to 40. A very down to earth cab driver. He appears only in Act III. Person can also work on the props and the sets. 

ELLWOOD P. DOWN: Late 40’s good bearing; has a dreamy expression in his eyes who is benign yet serious.

HARVEY: a 6 foot 2 inch white invisible Pooka, ageless

Be very familiar with the script and the part for which you are auditioning. Pay attention closely to the ages of each character and how that specific character is portrayed in the plot. All of the characters are wonderfully good character parts.
