March 4th and March 5thSynopsis
“Impromptu” finds four actors sitting on a darkened stage awaiting the arrival of the stage manager who has called them together. Each of them are distinct “types” and without the presence of the stage manager are lost. The only thing they know is that they can’t leave the stage until they have “acted out the play”. Suddenly becoming aware of the audience, the actors decide to “improvise” a show. The drama that unfolds is a mixture of truth, fantasy and well-rehearsed situations. But out of it comes a deepening awareness of the real people behind their theatrical facades.Patio/Porch are two shows that take place in separate locations. Patio is set in the backyard of a Texas home. It finds Pearl, the younger sister, preparing a going away party for her older sister Jewel, who is bored with small town life. The show reveals more and more sisterly differences and empty dreams from each of their lives. Porch introduces us to Dot, an elderly ill women, and Lucille, her daughter. Through vivid dialogue, we see the quiet desperation that besets them both.
