The Drowsy Chaperone: Auditions

When
Two men (or 1M, 1W) needed for The Drowsy Chaperone
 
Bergen County Players is looking to fill the following roles in The Drowsy Chaperone, the opening production of their 2014-15 season. Performances run 
September 6 – October 12.
 
George: (20s-30s) Robert’s anxious best man. He is loyal, sincere, and nervous. Makes looking out for Robert’s interests his top priority so that the wedding will come off without a hitch. Must be able to dance, tap is a plus. Vocal range: Tenor: F3-Bb4
 
Gangster: (30s-40s) A heavy-set/stocky, jovial gangster who is posing as a pastry chef. Typical 1920s Broadway gangster full of word play and stylized movements. Good 
comic timing and dancing skills required. Vocal range: Male (or Female): Db3-Gb4

CHARACTERS:

Please note: The age ranges listed are the characters’ ages, not necessarily the ages of the actors.

Gangsters 1 & 2: (30s-40s) Two jovial gangsters who are posing as pastry chefs. Typical 1920s Broadway gangsters full of word play and stylized movements. Good comic timing and dancing skills required. Vocal range: Tenor (Db3-Gb4)

Ensemble: (20-40) A strong, dancing/singing ensemble consisting of 2 men and 2 women. Vocal range: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass



WHAT TO PREPARE: Auditions will consist of singing, dance/movement, and cold readings.  Prepare and memorize one verse of an up-tempo, classic Broadway song or ballad which shows off your voice, range, and personality. Please do not sing from the show. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music for your audition with all cuts clearly marked.  No pre-recorded accompaniments or a cappella auditions allowed.

NOTE: Show runs September 6 - October 11, 2014
Performances are Friday & Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm
