Bergen County Players
welcomes new members who are interested in acting on our stage, as well
as helping behind the scenes. We are always looking for members to build
and decorate sets, work on stage crews; run the lighting and sound boards;
and create costumes, makeup and hairstyles for our seven annual main-stage
productions. We also produce two second-stage (two performances only)
productions and workshops before our monthly meetings.
You say you don't know a
thing about any of these theater skills? Not to worry, we can teach
you everything you need to know to become a skilled "theater person."
Benefits of
Membership
As a member, you receive a number of benefits which
include:
-
Free admittance to our special Player's Night
performances of every production and one half price ticket for your
guest. These performances are usually
held the night before the public opening of the production. (Tickets are
first come, first served, members who participate in workdays receive
priority seating).
-
Invitations to attend special,
members-only events, including VIP events, a spring
dinner/dance, and a family summer picnic.
-
A subscription to the Spotlight, our
monthly newsletter which keeps you informed of all the important dates,
auditions, and goings-on at BCP and latest news about our members.
-
Special consideration when auditioning
for a show
Membership Requirements
What do you have to do to become a member?
For the first year of your membership, you will become an "Associate
Member", during which time you will have a chance to "learn the ropes".
During this period, you will be required to:
-
Usher when assigned (usually
2-3
dates per season).
-
Participate in a minimum of three work
sessions during the season (i.e.: set strikes, general cleanup days or
set-building workdays)
-
Do ONE backstage job for a main-stage
production. Examples of these jobs include but are not limited
to: running lights and/or sound, props, publicity, write bios for the
program, work on costumes, makeup and hair, photography, etc. (choose
one)
OR
Do the same for two second stage
productions, two workshop productions, or one second stage and one
workshop production.
-
Pay initial dues of $48.
After the Associate Membership period is over, if you have
completed all your requirements, the membership will vote you into full
membership status. If you do not complete the requirements, you have
the option of re-associating for another year and starting the assignments
from scratch, or dropping your membership.
Once you become a full member, the only annual requirements
are ushering 2-3 times per season, and payment of dues ($36 per member
annually). Of course, we hope that like most our members, you will
continue to stay active with BCP onstage and off for many years.
