This seems to be
Jason’s season for titled roles, having recently appeared as The
Judge in Inherit the Wind at the Chatham Playhouse, King
Darling III in the BCP production of Cinderella, and as The
Announcer and The Newscaster in the TNT recreation of the classic
radio show, Suspense.
A retired
psychotherapist, Jason joined BCP in 2001 and has since appeared in
a score of local productions including A Mid Summer Night’s
Dream, Harvey, and You Can’t Take it With You.
Backstage at BCP
has found Jason as a co-chair of the Buddy System Committee, and
member of the box office staff. He currently serves on the Marketing
Committee. Jason has been a prop master, assistant director and
lighting or sound operator in a dozen BCP productions and frequently
lends a hand for set construction and décor.
Jason holds a BA
in Theater from Ramapo College. Granted in 2007, the degree
completed a quest that began 50 years earlier in 1957 when he
entered Drama School at Carnegie- Mellon Institute as an Acting
Major.
Jason began his
work in the entertainment industry as a child actor in the closing
years of the golden age of radio. His career included perforating in
the theater, radio and TV, film, stand-up, voice-overs, and work as
a DJ and talk-show host in both radio and TV.
Included in his
checkered past is a decade in the creative management areas of the
industry. Jason is married to BCP member, Marjory Lewis, a
singer/dancer/actress whose recent BCP appearances includes The
Women and Lend Me A Tenor. Her Broadway credits include
Minnie’s Boys and Lovely Ladies, Kind Gentleman.
